Luke Society Missions Ghana

Luke Society Missions Ghana stands as one of the oldest and most respected Christian medical ministries within the global Luke Society network. As part of an interdenominational organization, it partners with Christian health professionals who serve their own communities through culturally relevant, Christ-centered care. The ministry focuses on teaching disease prevention, providing medical treatment, and supporting economic development where needed—all rooted in the gospel message of reconciliation and healing. With over 40 ministry sites across Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Eastern Europe, the Luke Society empowers local leaders to transform lives physically, socially, and spiritually through mentorship, prayer, and practical support.

Founded in faith, the mission grew from a humble hut into a thriving medical ministry.
Empowering local leaders to serve their communities with Christ-centered care.

Rooted in Vision. Growing in Impact.

The vision and mission to establish the Luke Society Missions, Ghana, in partnership with the Luke Society US, was conceived with Dr. John Oduro-Boateng as the Executive Director. His love for his people and willingness to serve the underprivileged led him to initiate door-to-door, village-to-village healthcare and evangelism outreach programs in the Ashanti region, primarily in the Ejura Sekyeredumase district.

Opening of St. Luke, Kasei

On 11th June 1989, St. Luke Clinic in Kasei opened its doors to serve the communities of Ejura Sekyeredumase district and beyond, transforming a humble three-room mud hut into a beacon of hope and healthcare.

Transformation of the Hospital

A decade later, the humble three-room mud hut has undergone significant expansion, profoundly transforming the lives of many. On November 16, 1998, it was elevated from a basic clinic to a fully operational hospital, flourishing across a forty-acre campus.

Founding of Emmanuel Eye Missions

The Emmanuel Eye Missions was founded in East Legon, Accra, on 16 October 1993, by Dr Billman, an American ophthalmologist and missionary. In 1998, the Centre was incorporated into Luke Society Missions, Ghana, under the leadership of Dr. John Oduro-Boateng, who serves as the Executive Director. Emmanuel Eye Medical Centre has established itself as a leading provider of eye care and medical services in Ghana.
