Who We Are
Emmanuel Eye Medical Centre, located in the vibrant East Legon neighbourhood opposite the Ghana Standards Board and just 400 metres from the bustling Tetteh Quarshie Interchange in Accra, Ghana, stands as a beacon of hope and excellence in eye and medical care. Founded on October 8, 1993, by the visionary and missionary American ophthalmologist Dr. Herbert Billman, the centre has tirelessly served the community. After five years of dedicated leadership, Dr. Billman retired, passing the torch to a new era of compassionate care.In 1998, the centre became an integral part of the Luke Society Missions Ghana, with Dr. John Oduro-Boateng as Chief Executive Director, further amplifying its mission-driven approach with an in-house chaplain who addresses the Spiritual and Psychological needs of both staff and clients.
Today, Emmanuel Eye Medical Centre is recognised as a premier provider of eye health services in Ghana, officially registered as a mission hospital by the Ministry of Health and proudly a member of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG). Its unwavering commitment to restoring sight and transforming lives continues to inspire hope across the nation.

Mission: A Centre established as an effective healing ministry with excellence. A Centre which is to be maintained as a daily Evangelistic ministry to the patients assembled. A Centre whose staff is committed to the above and participates in staff prayers as well as the spiritual ministry.Vision: The vision of the Centre is to provide scientific eye care according to Christian principles on a non-commercial but cost-recovery (cost-effective) basis.
